R12. Alberta Job Corps - LMTA UPDATE

Responsibilities
This process is to be performed by an Alberta Job Corps authorized official.


Purpose
Alberta Job Corps (AJC) is a Training for Work program that provides workplace experience and training for individuals who have barriers to finding and maintaining competitive employment with their current skills, behaviors and experience. The purpose is to assist with the transition to employment by offering workplace essential skills, safe work practices and exposure to new or alternative occupations in the labour market.

Pre-conditions
The individual:

  • is registered in Mobius with federal data fields completed; and 
  • has an Integrated Case; and
  • has an Assessment; and
  • has an active Service Plan


Trigger
Initiate the AJC process when an individual is requesting AJC and shows up for the interview.

Process

  1. Enter Plan Item “Attend Alberta Job Corps”
    1. Plan Item Category: Alberta Job Corps
    2. Enter the Expected Start Date and End Date:
      1. Expected Start Date (consult the Products and Services Catalogue and ensure the dates matched) is the date the individual is accepted into AJC.
      2. Expected End Date is normally 6 months from the Start Date.
    3. Select “LMTA Activity” as the Expected Outcome. Save.
  2. AJC Referrals (see Refer a Plan Item in Mobius User Guide). Alberta Works authorized official is to complete the following fields in Mobius to refer and link the individual to an appropriate AJC service location:
    1.  Ensure the Referred to Provider section in Mobius is completed.
    2. Enter Provider name: Alberta Job Corps.
    3. Enter the Expected Start Date. Search the Products and Services Catalogue for a Start Date. Select the appropriate listing. Save.
  3. Edit Plan Item (see Edit Plan Item in Mobius User Guide):
    1. Enter the Actual Start Date when the individual is an AJC participant (status = in progress). Save.
  4. Individuals in Receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) Benefits
    1. Review with the individual “How to Complete EI Reports” (see Tools and Resources – Employment and Training Programs) if individual is an EI recipient. Inform the individual that any earnings received while in training must be declared on the EI report cards.
    2. For more information, refer the individual to the Service Canada Employment Insurance website for complete instructions on reporting requirements while employed.
  5. WCB Acknowledgement
    1. Have the individual sign the WCB Acknowledgement section of the signature page, which is an addendum to the TESR form. The individual’s signature is required to participate in AJC.
  6. Conduct Progress Review
    1. Enter Plan Item “Conduct Progress Review” under the Training Sub-Goal for each Service Management review activity.
    2. Select “LMTA Activity” as the Expected Outcome.
    3. Capture Service Management review activity in Notes section of the Service Plan Home Page.
    4. This STEP is repeated to ensure the individual’s progress in the AJC is assessed regularly and progress review is documented in Mobius Notes.
  7. AJC Completion
    1. Edit Plan Item “Attend Alberta Job Corps”:
      1. Enter Actual End Date, which is the last day the individual is an AJC participant. Use the date prior to the individual being employed or the last date the individual attends AJC, whichever applies.
      2. Select “Complete” for Outcome. Save. OR
      3. Select “Incomplete” for Outcome if the individual walks away or has been removed from AJC before completing the training. Save. Update the Employment screen as appropriate.
      4. Close Plan Item.
  8. 90-Day Follow-up
    1. Enter the Plan Item “Conduct Follow-up” and Category “90” days:
      1. The Expected Start Date is 90 days following completion of the AJC training or the last date the individual attends AJC.
      2. The Expected End Date is the date follow-up is/is to be completed. Save.
    2. Edit the Plan Item “Conduct Follow-up”:
      1. The Actual Start Date is the date when contact actually starts.
      2. The Actual End Date is the date when contact with the individual is made and follow-up is completed, or when contact has ended/discontinued after reasonable efforts have been made to complete the follow-up. 
    3. Close the Plan Item “Conduct Follow-up” as “Complete” once follow-up is completed. Select “Incomplete” if contact with the individual has ended/discontinued and follow-up is not completed.
    4. Enter in the Notes section of the Service Plan Home Page the specific information about the results of the contact with the individual.
    5. After the follow-up, update the Employment screen and any other relevant demographic/administrative data as appropriate.
  9. Monitoring
    1. The AJC authorized official is to monitor and ensure the proper closing of all Plan Items and completion of the LMTA required data in Mobius.
