Department Responsibilities to Clients

Department Responsibilities to Individuals

The department must provide equitable treatment to individuals throughout the province of Alberta by:

  • Recognizing the person’s inherent worth and that all people have strengths and abilities
  • Delivering services in a manner that treats a person with dignity and respect
  • Respecting a person’s autonomy, dignity and right to personal choice
  • Responding to the nature and urgency of the need and providing services accordingly
  • Informing individuals of CEIS rules, conditions, expectations, and services including programs and services not administered by Community and Social Services.
  • Advising a person of their right to have an Authorized Official’s decision reviewed whenever a decision is made affecting their eligibility for CEIS programs and services.
  • Safeguarding and protecting a person’s information. Ensuring it is collected, used, disclosed and managed in accordance with the Employment Insurance Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act.
