MO-2018-21 - Personal Benefit Rates and Frequencies

INTENT

To assist with the cost of medical equipment when the medical equipment is essential to manage the client’s or dependent child’s condition.

POLICY

In order to receive a personal benefit, the eligibility criteria and conditions as outlined in the Personal Benefits section must be met.

Medical equipment is a durable item that may be provided to assist an AISH client or their dependent child to manage a specific medical condition. These benefits must be the least cost alternative.

Substantiation
The client provides:

  • A letter from a healthcare professional explaining the client’s medical condition, the expected benefit of the Medical Equipment, and the duration that the equipment will be needed.
  • Two vendor quotes may be required.

AISH Workers may request additional documentation if the AISH Worker deems it necessary.

Note
There are additional substantiation requirements for continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices. Clients should contact their AISH Worker for more information.

Rate
Medical Equipment Rate
• Actual reasonable cost of up to $2,258.00 per item.

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) Rate

  • Auto-Pressure CPAP device: actual cost up to the maximum medical equipment amount once every three years.
  • Fixed Pressure CPAP device: actual cost up to $1,920.00 once every three years.
