Employment Training and Transition Supports
Income Support, Training and Health Benefits Regulation, Schedule 4, section 15
Full Time Learners: Schedules 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Advanced Education)
Full Time Learners: Schedules 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Labour and Immigration)
INTENT
To provide each adult member of the household a benefit to access goods and services necessary to enhance employability.
POLICY
The Government of Alberta may pay the costs of employment, training and transition supports required to:
- purchase goods and services for job search activities or for participation in a training program
- accept or maintain employment
- attend Government of Alberta funded training.
Expenses may include:
- testing fees, exam fees, deposits and registration
- work or school clothing not covered by the core essential benefit (e.g., work boots)
- tools (only as required for work experience or employment)
- vehicle expenses (maintenance, registration and insurance)
- other goods or services that are essential for training or employment.

PROCEDURE
A learner must submit a Change in Circumstances form requesting the benefit.
Substantiation
Written documentation such as:
- confirmation of required supports from the provider of the training program
- confirmation of employment
- bills, receipts or written estimates for vehicle insurance or repairs.
