Service Animal

MO-2018-21 - Personal Benefit Rates and Frequencies
INTENT
To assist clients with the cost of a certified service animal.
POLICY
In order to receive a personal benefit, the eligibility criteria and conditions as outlined in the Personal Benefits section must be met.
A monthly financial benefit may be provided to assist an AISH client with the usual costs associated with caring for a service animal.
In order to qualify for this benefit, the service animal must be a dog certified by an approved training organization:
- For Guide Dogs Qualifications Regulations under the Blind Persons' Rights Act (for additional information see: Guide Dogs Qualifications Regulations and International Guide Dog Federation Member Schools), or
- For Service Dogs Qualifications Regulations under the Service Dogs Act (for additional information see: Service Dogs Qualifications Regulations and Assistance Dogs International).
Substantiation
The client provides:
- Copy of the training school certificate,
- Government of Alberta (GOA) Service Dog Team identification card, or
- GOA Guide Dog Team identification card.
AISH Workers may request additional documentation if the AISH Worker deems it necessary.
Rate
$59.00 per month
