Service Animal

MO-2018-21 - Personal Benefit Rates and Frequencies

INTENT

To assist clients with the cost of a certified service animal.

POLICY

In order to receive a personal benefit, the eligibility criteria and conditions as outlined in the Personal Benefits section must be met.

A monthly financial benefit may be provided to assist an AISH client with the usual costs associated with caring for a service animal.

In order to qualify for this benefit, the service animal must be a dog certified by an approved training organization:

Substantiation
The client provides:

  • Copy of the training school certificate,
  • Government of Alberta (GOA) Service Dog Team identification card, or
  • GOA Guide Dog Team identification card.

AISH Workers may request additional documentation if the AISH Worker deems it necessary.
