Specialized Clothing

AUTHORITY

MO-2018-21 - Personal Benefit Rates and Frequencies

INTENT

To assist clients with covering additional or adapted clothing costs related to their disability.

POLICY

In order to receive a personal benefit, the eligibility criteria and conditions as outlined in the Personal Benefits section must be met.

The AISH program may provide coverage for essential Specialized Clothing when clients require additional or adapted clothing related to their disability.

Examples of Specialized Clothing include (but are not limited to):

  • Specialized socks for leg braces,
  • Specialized shoes because of swelling, and
  • Replacement specialized clothing where clients have had their clothing cut off by medical staff during an emergency.

Substantiation
The client provides:

  • A verbal explanation of their medical condition and its impact on their clothing.

AISH Workers may request additional documentation if the AISH Worker deems it necessary.

Rate
Actual reasonable cost up to $340.00 in a 12-month period.
