Medical Alert Service

AUTHORITY

MO-2018-21 - Personal Benefit Rates and Frequencies

INTENT

To assist clients with the cost of medical alert services.

POLICY
In order to receive a personal benefit, the eligibility criteria and conditions as outlined in the Personal Benefits section must be met.

A medical alert service is a benefit provided to assist clients to notify a health care provider in the event of a health emergency. The benefit includes initial set-up and ongoing monthly fees and is based on the least cost alternative.

Substantiation
The client must provide:

  • A letter from a healthcare professional explaining the client’s medical condition, the expected benefit of the Medical Alert Service and the duration that the service is needed.
  • A vendor quote including initial set up and ongoing fees.

AISH Workers may request additional documentation if the AISH Worker deems it necessary.

Rate
The AISH program covers the actual reasonable cost of essential Medical Alert Services including initial set up and ongoing fees. The least costly option must be used.
