Child Care Resources for Parents

The Ministry of Human Services is committed to helping parents access quality, affordable child care. We also want to help parents get the information they need to make informed choices when choosing a child care program that is right for their family.

Choosing or finding child care

Choosing a child care program that meets your family and child’s needs is an important decision. You know your family’s needs better than anyone else. You should spend time learning about and researching your options so you can feel confident and comfortable with your final decision.

Child care subsidy

Subsidy is available for eligible lower-income parents who wish to use a licensed pre-school, group family child care, day care, out-of-school care program or an approved family day home. An additional subsidy may be available for parents who work non-traditional hours and require extended hours of child care.

For general inquiries about child care subsidy call 1‑877‑644‑9992, or in Edmonton call 780‑644‑9992.

Other child care options

If you need child care outside regular business hours, if a relative cares for your children, or if you are a stay-at-home parent, you may qualify for support.
