PDD Provincial Advisory Committee - Terms of Reference


Purpose

To serve as an advisory team to the Minister, providing input on PDD program issues.

Objectives

  • To discuss and provide input and feedback regarding program policies and/or strategic directions of provincial significance to the PDD program
  • To share expertise, experience and perspectives regarding program issues and strategies that require a provincial perspective
  • To be proactive and forward thinking in identifying trends and opportunities that may inform decision-making.
  • To create an open and transparent mechanism to facilitate information sharing
  • To create an atmosphere of trust where sensitive discussions can be held in confidence

Frequency of Meetings

Three to four meetings per year as needed to discuss emerging issues related to the PDD program.

Membership

Chair:

  • Assistant Deputy Minister, Community Support Programs and Strategic Planning Division

Members:

  • CEO, Alberta Council of Disability Services
  • CEO, Alberta Association for Community Living
  • Three family representatives (selected by the Ministry)
  • Three service provider CEOs or Executive Directors (selected by the Ministry)
  • CEO from each PDD Community Board
  • Executive Director, PDD Program Branch

Reporting

This Committee reports to the Minister of Alberta Seniors and Community Supports, through the Committee Chair. Meeting minutes will be provided to the Deputy Minister and Minister for information after being endorsed by Committee members. A summary of the meeting will be posted on the Seniors and Community Supports website.

Secretariat support will be provided by PDD Program Branch, as required.

Timeframe

First meeting will be held in October 2010. Committee Terms of Reference and membership will be reviewed after one year.
