Show Answer What are family-centred services?

Family-centred services recognize that each family is unique. A family-centred approach:

  • Identifies and builds on a family’s strengths;
  • Recognizes the family’s informal social support network is a primary source of support and resource for meeting the family’s needs;
  • Targets family-centred goals through supports and services; and
  • Emphasizes and promotes strengthening the parent’s and family’s ability to promote the child’s development.
