Children’s Services / Community and Social Services Indigenous Internship Program

Objective

The internship program will provide Indigenous youth interns with challenging roles doing public service work and enriching learning experience. The program will consist of various segments, working within the various departments within Children’s Services / Community and Social Services. Interns are provided with mentoring, coaching and skill training in order to prepare them for future employment.

Upon completion of the internship program, Indigenous youth interns will have increased knowledge of government and organization processes and professional skills. These include writing, research, presentation, engagement and leadership strategies, and a rewarding sense of achievement for completing the program. This internship will potentially provide opportunity for further public service employment in the provincial government. The internship may also work as a vehicle to provide clarity on the direction of future educational and professional endeavors the intern may wish to pursue.

  • 12 months

Qualifications

  • The position qualifications for internships are posted in the recruitment advertisements. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience working with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, or organizations within Alberta.
