It’s never too late

Photograph of RobRob had worked at a variety of short-term retail, light industrial and labour jobs, but none offered him the satisfaction that he had found working as a security officer earlier in his life. A lack of confidence and fear of failure were holding him back. Rob also worried that he was getting too old to "start" a new career.

Alberta Works staff referred Rob to the Bredin Centre for Learning where he took part in their Worksource Program. The Worksource Program provides job-search basics, a drop-in job-search resource centre, job-placement services, job-search workshops, and workplace training opportunities.

Through the program, Rob explored his career options, strengthened his job-interview skills, polished his resumé and cover letter, learned new computer skills, and built up his self-confidence.

The Worksource Program worked, because Rob is now going through the background checks for his new job as security officer.

Employment services at the Bredin Centre for Learning are funded by the Government of Alberta.
