Right services lead to right job

Photograph of SigneSigne was unemployed and looking for a part-time job as a medical receptionist, but she was facing some barriers to employment related to a disability.

Alberta Works referred Signe to EmployAbilities for help with her job search. Signe completed their Employment First program, which helped her upgrade her resumé, strengthen her job interview skills, and learn how to access the hidden job market. She met Derek Christensen, an Employment Facilitator at EmployAbilities, a number of times about her job search. Signe also joined the BGS Job Club to enhance her job search.

Signe’s hard work paid off after four months when she landed a part-time job as a medical receptionist.

“If it wasn’t for the Employment First program and Derek’s ongoing support and guidance, I would not have my new job as a medical secretary.”

Employment services provided by EmployAbilities and BGS Career & Corporate Development are funded by the Government of Alberta.
