On the right path to a bright future

Photograph of CourtneyCourtney had moved around a lot over the past few years and so she only had short-term, entry level work experience to help her land her next job. She had been unemployed for a few weeks when she approached Saamis Aboriginal Employment & Training Association (SETA) for help finding a job in retail sales. Her SETA Employment Counsellor helped her update her resume and cover letter and Courtney quickly found two part-time jobs. Her counsellor also helped Courtney work on her long-term career goals. Courtney decided that she wanted to be a hairstylist and so SETA helped her apply for training funding. Courtney was approved and she has started training to become a hairstylist. Courtney’s Employment Counsellor stays in touch with her to make sure everything is still going smoothly.

“Saamis Aboriginal and their employees have helped me in more ways than one. They‘ve helped me find my interests and strengths and most of all myself. With their help and guidance, I am now on the right path to a very bright future. I am thankful for their help.”

Saamis Aboriginal Employment & Training Association is funded in part by the Government of Alberta.
