Learning to find work again

Photograph of JerryJerry came to the Slave Lake Alberta Works Centre looking for work as a Pipefitter. Jerry was equipped with a resumé, education and extensive experience in the trades.

As a mature worker, Jerry was accustomed to traditional ways of looking for employment: show up at a worksite, meet the employer, and get hired. Jerry was networking with employers and job searching on-line, but found the application process for jobs challenging and frustrating.

With the support of an Alberta Works Career and Employment Consultant, Jerry was able to update his resumé, access job search websites, and complete on-line job applications. Jerry started working as a full-time Pipefitter again in early April and is glad to be working again.
