Training fixes career hiccup

Owner, Greg’s Repair

Greg knew the odds were stacked against him when he got laid off from his job as a machinist. The whole industry was slowing down. Few employers were hiring, there were lots of other people looking for jobs, and even if he did find a job, another round of layoffs could be right around the corner. Greg decided instead to return to his Automotive Technician background and start his own business. Greg enrolled in the Self-employment Training Program offered by execuserv plus inc. in Lethbridge and started his new company, Greg's Repair.

Greg’s business has been operating for seven months and he's doing well. He's getting more customers and every Facebook review is five-star. Greg is most pleased that he has already gained a reputation for being a trusted source for quality repairs at a reasonable price and for providing customer service that goes above and beyond.

Greg was able to continue receiving Employment Insurance benefits while he attended the 26-week Self-employment Training Program. The program is funded by the Government of Alberta.
