Growing a business

Inks N Stuff Ltd.

When I founded Inks N Stuff in 2012, I was full of ambition and vision of what my company was to look like, but I lacked the support, knowledge and training that I needed to make my company a success. Fortunately, I was introduced to the Self-employment program offered by the Microbusiness Training Centre while visiting my local Alberta Works Centre. This program was the exact stepping stone that I needed to get the training I needed while I grew my business and earned an income. I found the financial planning lessons most valuable. I already had sales coming in when I enrolled in the program, but I didn't know how to manage, forecast or plan out our cash flow. By the completion of the course, I had built a business and marketing plan and increased our revenue. The Self-employment program helped me set up Inks N Stuff for the success it has today and I still get support and maintain a good relationship with the instructors to this day. I can honestly say that without their help, my dream of owning my own company would still be just that, a dream.

The Microbusiness Training Centre Self-employment program is funded by the Government of Alberta.
