Myrna

A little help goes a long way

Photograph of MyrnaFrom the Morley First Nation, Myrna was looking for work and came across a project coordinator position in Edmonton that peaked her interest. Knowing she needed to update her resumé, Myrna connected with the Job Resource Centre in Canmore in October 2016.

She worked with a career coach who reviewed the job requirements with her. With the help of the career coach, Myrna targeted her resumé and cover letter and applied. About a week later, Myrna was contacted by the employer and given a series of screening questions. After working on them and submitting to the employer, she took the next step in reconnecting with her career coach for a mock interview. A couple of weeks later and following her actual interview, Myrna got the job!

Speaking about her career coach, Myrna says, “Donna showed me how to communicate my professional work experience as a match with the job posting. She has a very specific skill set and knowledge that some people pay money to get.”
