Small strategies have big rewards

Photograph of MatthewMatthew approached Prospect Human Services for help finding a job that accommodated his hidden disability.

Matthew’s resumé showed that he had a history of many employers and lack of job retention. He was also aware of his challenges with memory and how that contributed to job loss.

Working with an employment placement specialist at Prospect, Matthew put together a new resumé and cover letter and received coaching on how to effectively search for a job.

In May 2015, Matthew was successful in getting a sales associate position with a large retailer. With the support of his job coach and employer, Matthew has developed simple and effective strategies to help with memory when learning something new.

In an environment when people are seeing a reduction in work hours, Matthew is experiencing an increase in shifts per week. Matthew is successful in closing sales and says, “I love my job!”

See for more information about their career services for persons with barriers to employment due to disabilities.
