GED a stepping stone to EMT

Photograph of KatelynKatelyn wants to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). She was getting related experience as a volunteer firefighter, but she needed her GED to enroll in Emergency Medical Responder training.

She turned to Careers Under Construction for help preparing for her GED exam. She passed with flying colours and then completed her Emergency Medical Responder training.

Katelyn is now pursuing a career with the Canadian Armed Forces to help her pay for her Emergency Medical Technicial (EMT) training.

"When I started the GED program, I thought it was just to get my GED, but now I realize that it was the start of a new adventure."

Careers Under Construction is funded by Human Services’ Alberta Works program.
