Gregory

Persistence pays off

Photograph of GregoryGregory had been unemployed for about 14 months. His Employment Insurance had run out and he was struggling to pay his rent and keep up with his bills.

He turned to Alberta Works for Income Support and help with his job search. Gregory also used the Food Bank and a local meal program that he had volunteered at in the past.

Gregory was persistent—he visited the Alberta Works Centre nearly every day to look for jobs. He didn’t have strong computer skills and appreciated the help using the computers to look for jobs.

And his commitment finally paid off in April. Gregory secured full-time employment in his trade making over $40 per hour in Fort McMurray.

Many Alberta Works and Alberta Supports staff got to know Gregory over the past few months and they are very happy for him.

Gregory is grateful for the help he received and is happy to be back to work.
