Never give up

Photograph of HashiAfter graduating high school in Toronto, I was unsure of what the future would hold for me. I decided to move to Edmonton for a better chance at accomplishing my goals. I faced the problem of not knowing anyone in this new city and began to look for an organization that can help me with planning out my future endeavors.

I found the Somali Canadian Education & Rural Development Organization. After completing their Somali Youth Employability, Empowerment and Integration Project program, I found a job and took some upgrading courses for post-secondary. I've found meaningful work, made new friends and best of all, I'm on my way to a better future.

My situation improved with the help of the staff of this wonderful organization. They gave me the tools and resources I needed to succeed. I owe a lot of gratitude toward this organization and the Government of Alberta for sponsoring this program and giving myself and others a shot at success.

I learned my strengths and weaknesses, how to continuously improve, and how to persevere and never give up.
