Giving back to the community

Photograph of Jessica and a womanJessica was struggling to maintain employment and make ends meet. Whitecourt Alberta Works Centre staff referred Jessica to Whitecourt Employment Services, a contracted service provider funded by the Government of Alberta.

After trying multiple strategies to help Jessica, Whitecourt Employment Services saw the need for a specialized assessment funded by Alberta Works. Using the recommendations from the assessment, Whitecourt Employment Services found Jessica suitable employment.

Jessica now works with the nonprofit Lunchbox program— raising funds by collecting recyclables within the community.  Thanks to Jessica’s dedication, she is seen in the community as the “face” of the program.

Jessica is very happy to be working manageable hours at a job that she enjoys.  She has met many new people who have become part of her strong support system. Jessica is now gladly giving back to the community that supported her when she was struggling.
