Carnot
The best time to start is now
Carnot had previously studied and worked as a Maintenance Engineer in his home country. When he arrived in Canada in 2008 he was unable to find employment due to a lack of communication skills and current Canadian work experience.
Carnot worked as a Kitchen Helper and Counter Attendant for six years before enrolling in the Millwright Pre-Apprenticeship program through Calgary Catholic Immigration Society in 2014.
This program gave him the training, work experience and access to employment opportunities to find a trades position with a major oil company.
“I knew what would help me and I got it. Without the program, my abilities would be wasted. Now my employment has a clear career path,” said Carnot.
Alberta Works funds Calgary Catholic Immigration Society’s Millwright Pre-Apprenticeship.
