Building a new life in Canada

Photograph of Rodrigo and othersRodrigo, a Certified Chef came to Canada from Chile in February 2012, with his wife Karla through an open work visa. They wanted to apply for permanent residency but found the process difficult and confusing.

Rodrigo attended the information session on Stay in Alberta Permanently. Through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) for Skilled Workers program, with support from an Economic Immigration Specialist at Enterprise & Advanced Education and the Peace River Alberta Works Centre, he was able to complete the application and receive his AINP approval.

Rodrigo then began the Citizenship and Immigration Canada Application, through assistance from Service Canada Outreach workers provided through the Alberta Works Centre.

His advice for his fellow Temporary Foreign Workers is “If you are looking for help you can get it! Don’t give up!”

Rodrigo is now anxiously awaiting approval of his Permanent Residency request. He and his wife Karla, along with their daughter, Amanda looks forward to building a life in Canada.
