Work is awesome!

Photograph of KulwinderKulwinder is deaf and had very limited employment experience.

He worked with an employment placement specialist from Prospect Human Services to develop his resume and attended The Worx business and resource centre to search employment opportunities and use the assistive technology.

With the help of the placement specialist, Kulwinder secured an interview with Clique Hotel and Resorts and and was hired into a permanent position as an evening houseman.

Prospect helped Kulwinder submit an application to the Alberta Works Disability Related Employment Supports (DRES) program to purchase assistive technology. A paging system was obtained, allowing the front desk to communicate with him.

The position has supported Kulwinder to learn and develop skills in a number of areas, including construction, maintenance, problem solving, customer service, team building and communication. Kulwinder expressed it best that “work is awesome!”
