Amanda

Breaking down barriers

Photograph of AmandaLimited education, sporadic work history and low self-confidence were keeping Amanda in a continual cycle of low paying and temporary jobs.

Amanda was determined to become independent and a role model for her children.  With the help of Alberta Works, she was connected to the Bridges to Success program with McBride Career Group in 2013.

Through the program, she gained positive parenting skills, life management tools, work experience, job search tips and confidence to get back into the workforce.

She started evaluating her job choices, decided on a different career path and obtained a good paying and stable job in the high-demand industry of warehousing.  Taking it to the next level, Amanda is planning on taking training as a Dental Assistant.

“McBride taught me to think about my life in a whole new way.  They taught me that I am a strong individual with many skills,” said Amanda.
