Child and Family Services Council for Quality Assurance
Legislated under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act, the Council is a multidisciplinary body of experts who work with the ministry to identify effective practices and make recommendations to the Minister for improving and strengthening child intervention services.
In addition, the Council may appoint expert review panels to review serious injuries or deaths of children in care. In performing these roles, the CQA collaborates with partners and stakeholders who provide services to children and youth.
The collaboration between the Council, ministry and the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate is helping to develop an integrated system of quality assurance and continuous improvement. This combined work supports the government’s enhanced commitment to providing quality services and, ultimately, to improving outcomes for vulnerable children, youth and families.
The Child and Family Services Council for Quality Assurance members have a wide range of experience and expertise related to child intervention:
- Donna Boulanger (Chair), Public Health Nursing (retired)
- Eva Cardinal, Cree Elder
- Kent Henderson, Edmonton Police Service (retired)
- Dr. Gayla Rogers, former Dean, Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary
