Client Sub-Type 11 Self Employed
Clients who are self-employed, or a farmer, and engaged in developing a viable business. These clients must have an assessment completed by a CEC within 30 days of application to determine business viability.
Clients should only be assigned to this ETW sub-type for three months (or 12 months if they are a farmer). If they require IS beyond this period, a review of their circumstances is completed by a CEC including: a review of the client's assessment, their current business viability, their Individual Plan and the possibility of re-categorizing the individual to the appropriate client category. If they wish to pursue self-employment beyond this period, and refuse to actively seek full-time competitive employment, their IS file can be reviewed for non-compliance.
In addition to the expectations for all ETW clients, self-employed clients are also required to:
- Keep accurate records of business expenses and income received.
- Maximize earning potential (increase hours, seek additional work contracts).
- Demonstrate progression towards viability.
Substantiation
The client provides proof of earnings.
