Learner Income Support Benefits

Continuous Supplementary Benefits (General Policies)

High Cost Community

AUTHORITY

Income Support, Training and Health Benefits Regulation, Schedule 4, Section 10
Full-Time Learners: Schedules 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Labour)
Full-Time Learners: Schedules 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Advanced Education)

INTENT

To assist learner households in communities that have a higher cost of living.

POLICY

The Government of Alberta pays a high cost community allowance, based on the address on the Income Support Application, if the learner household:

  • is located within the city limits of Fort McMurray, and
  • is defined as private housing.

Rate

  • $300 per month per household

PROCEDURE

The learner must submit an Learner Income Support Application (Full-Time Study) or Change in Circumstances form. This benefit will be provided automatically, based on the address when private housing is indicated.
