Federal Child Benefit (NCBS) for Non-EI Learners

INTENT

The full Federal Child Benefit amount (NCBS maximum) is a portion of the Canada Child Benefit calculated by the Government of Canada. 

Non-EI learner households not receiving the full Federal Child Benefit amount (maximum NCBS), may be eligible for the Child Supplement Allowance (NCBS Replacement Benefit). 

PROCEDURE

Albertans with dependants can contact the Canada Revenue Agency at 1-800-387-1193 to request their Canada Child Benefit Notice of Determination.

If a Non-EI funded Learner is not receiving the full Federal Child Benefit amount (maximum NCBS), the individual can contact the Learner Income Support Office.

If a Non-EI funded Learner requests the Child Supplement Allowance (NCBS Replacement Benefit), certain Learner Income Support Office staff have access to the federal NCBS web link to determine a Non-EI Learner’s eligibility.
