13 Federal Child Benefit (National Child Benefit Supplement - NCBS)

Intake Procedures

The Career and Employment Consultant (CEC) must substantiate that the client is receiving the full Federal Child Benefit amount (maximum NCBS) as part of the Canada Child Benefit and if not, considers issuing a Child Supplement Allowance (NCBS Replacement Benefit).

When the replacement benefit is used to establish eligibility, confirmation is required to determine the actual amount of the Federal Child Benefit (NCBS actual entitlement) that the client is receiving..

Applications can be processed prior to applicants notifying Canada Revenue Agency of changes that will impact their eligibility for the Federal Child Benefit (maximum NCBS) portion of the Canada Child Benefit.

Substantiation
Every year
, the worker:

If there is a change in family composition such as an addition to the household unit, updated information is required (Canada Child Benefit Notice of Determination or updated National Child Benefit Supplement (NCBS) Verification).

Procedures
Once substantiation is received, the worker:

  1. Reviews the Canada Child Benefit Notice of Determination or the National Child Benefit Supplement (NCBS) Verification.
  2. Determines if the client is eligible to receive a Child Supplement Allowance (NCBS Replacement Benefit).
  3. Issues the Child Supplement Allowance (NCBS Replacement Benefit), if appropriate.
  4. Records the information in Mobius Notes.
