08 Supplementary Benefits

Personal Needs Allowance

INTENT

To meet needs associated with long term dependency of clients who have Barriers to Full Employment (BFE), who are unable to improve their financial situation through full-time attachment to the workforce and reside in an Expected to Work (ETW) household.

POLICY

This benefit is issued to an adult applicant or adult recipient categorized with a BFE client sub-type (42, 44, 45, 46, 47) in an ETW household.

This benefit is not issued to:

  • Clients with an ETW client sub-type,
  • Clients in a BFE household
  • Clients residing in a nursing home, auxiliary hospital or active treatment hospital and receiving the accommodation charge (Need Code 1105) or
  • Clients who are in receipt of a comforts/resident core essential allowance
    (Need Code 1405)

Rate
$89.00
per month per adult with a BFE Client Sub-type in an ETW household.

PROCEDURES

LISA defaults the Personal Needs Supplement when the worker uses the PF10 key in Client Budget for an ETW household with a BFE client sub-type.
