Children’s School Expenses

MO-2018-21 - Personal Benefit Rates and Frequencies

INTENT

To assist clients with the costs of school-related expenses for their dependent child.

POLICY

In order to receive a personal benefit, the eligibility criteria as outlined in the Personal Benefits section must be met.

AISH provides a children’s school expenses benefit to assist clients with the costs of school-related expenses for their dependent child attending preschool through high school. The dependent child must be registered in, and attending an education program under the Education Act.

Only one children’s school expenses benefit per dependent child is issued if the dependent children are in the shared custody of AISH clients living in separate households.

Substantiation

  • Verbal or written statement from the client.
  • Written substantiation of school attendance is required for 4 year olds, 18 and 19 year olds, or for those children enrolled in a correspondence school.
  • AISH Workers may request additional documentation if the AISH Worker deems it necessary.

School Expenses Rate

  • $59.00 per year for each dependent child who is 4 years or older and in a preschool or kindergarten program;
  • $115.00 per year for each dependent child who is in grades 1 to 6; or
  • $199.00 per year for each dependent child who is in grades 7 to 12.

School Lunch Supervision Rate

  • Actual cost of fees to cover lunch hour supervision at school.
