Children’s Education

INTENT

To describe what assistance is available to clients to help with the costs of school-related expenses for their dependent child.

POLICY

In order to receive a personal benefit, the eligibility criteria as outlined in the Personal Benefits section must be met.

AISH provides a children’s education benefit to assist clients with the costs for their dependent child to attend preschool through high school. The dependent child must be registered in, and attending an education program under the School Act.

Only one children’s education benefit per dependent child is issued if the dependent children are in the shared custody of AISH clients living in separate households.

School Year Rate

  • $50 for each dependent child who is 4 years or older and in a preschool or kindergarten program;
  • $100 for each dependent child who is in grades 1 to 6; or
  • $175 for each dependent child who is in grades 7 to 12.
