Infant Care

AUTHORITY

INTENT

To describe what assistance is available to clients to help with the costs of preparing or caring for an infant.

POLICY

In order to receive a personal benefit, the eligibility criteria as outlined in the Personal Benefits section must be met.

AISH provides an infant care benefit to assist clients with the costs of items for the care of their infant child.

The infant care benefit may be provided to a client if they, or their cohabiting partner:

  • Is at least 36 weeks pregnant;
  • Has given birth and the dependent child is not more than 6 months old; or
  • Has adopted a dependent child within the past 6 months, and the dependent child is less than 12 months old.

Rate

  • A one-time payment of $250 per dependent infant child.
