Remote Community

AUTHORITY

Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped Act, section 3
Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped General Regulation, section 2 and 8; Schedule 3 and section 3

INTENT

To describe what assistance is available to clients to help with the higher costs of living in remote communities.

POLICY

In order to receive a personal benefit, the eligibility criteria as outlined in the Personal Benefits section must be met.

AISH provides a remote community benefit to assist clients with the increased costs of maintaining a principal residence in a remote community. A remote community is considered to be a permanent community that does not have all-season road access.

Remote Community Rate

  • $40 per month per client; and
  • $40 per month per dependent child.
