Barriers to Full Employment (BFE)

Client Sub-Type 44 Self-Employed

Characteristics
These BFE clients are self-employed and engaged in developing a business. They are not required to prove their business can become viable nor are there timelines for this sub-type. Note
A worker should refer self-employed clients to one of the Alberta offices of Canada Business Network for information about business plan development and funding resources. Clients should be provided with the toll-free number (1-800-272-9675 and the website address, www.businesslink.ca.

In addition to the expectations for all BFE clients, self-employed clients are also required to:

  • Proof of earnings
  • An assessment completed when the multiple barrier was assessed or within a reasonable period of being categorized as sub-type 44 considering factors such as; length of initial medical, client circumstances, assessments, etc.
