Purpose of Exempting Income
Certain types of income are fully or partly exempt to make sure:
- Recipients have incentives to earn money from employment and
- Applicants and recipients get the benefit of specific federal and provincial income supports available to other Canadians and
- Recipients have some resources they can use to buy items Income Support (IS) does not supply.
