Alberta Adult Health Benefit (AAHB) Clients
INTENT
To ensure Alberta Adult Health Benefit (AAHB) clients have appropriate access to Child Support Services (CSS) according to legislative authority, program policy and CSS guiding principles.
POLICY
Introduction
The AAHB program is available to assist Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) and Income Support (IS) clients to maintain employment by covering their health costs when they left either program due to excess income.
AAHB clients are assistance clients as defined under Section 28(a) of the Income and Employment Supports Act (IESA). Effective April 1, 2012, clients in receipt of AAHB benefits are exempt from CSS Eligibility requirements. Electronic referrals to TOMIS for this client group do not occur.
Case Management
The Child Support Worker follows the case management for "Other Albertans With Low Income" with the following exception:
- The income eligibility requirements for Other Albertans with Low Income are waived for AAHB clients.
All other requirements for suitability and eligibility for Other Albertans with Low Income are followed.
