One-Time Issues

IESA Section 29

INTENT

To ensure persons receiving a one-time issue have appropriate access to CSS according to legislative authority, program policy and CSS guiding principles.

POLICY

Although a person who receives a one-time issue to meet emergent financial needs is not system referred to CSS by LISA, the person can request CSS. At the client’s request, the financial worker refers to CSS according to the regional procedures or the person can self-refer. As they are in receipt of assistance, they do not need to meet income eligibility requirements. If the matter is not finalized in the month the IS file is open, the CSW provides services under IESA Section 29(8).

When a support agreement or order is obtained and registered at the Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP) no crown claim is made for the month(s) that the applicant was a one-time issue.
