INTENT
To minimize the amount of time before former AISH clients begin receiving AISH benefits.
POLICY
Rapid reinstatement is a process where a former AISH client’s file is re-opened without requiring a full application. The process is rapid in that the former client may not be required to re-apply for AISH or undergo the AISH medical assessment.
AISH clients can qualify for rapid reinstatement if they:
- Have been off AISH for less than 24 months; and
- Did not leave AISH because of a change in their medical condition.
A new AISH application may be required if these conditions are not met.
For transfers between Alberta Adult Health Benefit (AAHB) program and the AISH program, please view the AAHB policy section.
